MS round pipes are produced according to industry standards like IS 1239 (Indian Standard for mild steel tubes), IS 3589 (steel pipes for water transportation), ASTM A53 (American Standard for black and galvanized welded steel pipes), and BS EN 10255 (British Standard for non-alloy steel tubes).
Manufacturing Process:
Cold Rolled (CR) or Hot Rolled (HR): Mild steel round pipes can be made by cold rolling, which offers a smooth finish and better dimensional accuracy, or hot rolling, which is more economical and suitable for thicker pipes.
ERW (Electric Resistance Welding): The most common method for making MS pipes, where steel is formed into a pipe shape and the seam is welded using electrical resistance.
Seamless Pipes: For applications requiring higher strength and pressure resistance, MS round pipes can be produced without a seam by piercing a solid steel billet, resulting in a stronger product.
